Couples shouldn’t downplay the significance of music at wedding receptions, according to local experts in the realm of party tunes. Guests may forget your choice in flowers by the time your thank-you note arrives, but a night of non-danceable clunkers can make an impression for all the wrong reasons.

LemonWheel vocalist Shelby Jones said music sets the mood — from dinner to introductions of the wedding party through a dance floor celebration that can roll for three hours. “I think it’s really important,” said Jones, whose band took top honors in the 2013 Indy A-List survey of “Best Wedding Music. “Ben Jackson, otherwise known as DJ Action Jackson, looks at wedding receptions this way: “It’s the most important day of their lives, and you’re running it.”
